Polite society is an intangible, and opaque curatorial, and exhibition entity whose approach re-envisions the exhibition space while embracing an ethereal and punk ethos. Polite society’s experimental, and elusive nature allow it the freedom to work outside the constraints of any one system, and endorses the presentation of projects that elude, and transcend the spectrum of the new institutional art order.

Since it’s inception in 2012 the gallery has re-formed the idea of working within the genteel art establishment, and fosters an approach which offers innovative possibilities for unique projects, and a new blueprint for artistic creators.

Polite society’s ambiguous residence is constantly in a state of flux, expanding and contracting within unfixed, and indeterminate regions. It’s borderless nature, inventive tactics and unconventional methodology allow it to elude categorization. The institute embraces the responsibility of working on the periphery of the new art order, while at the same time embedding itself within, and exploiting its systems. The institute falls just outside the entrenched public and private sectors. It is privately owned and runs as a sub-profit entity.
